RichAuto Controller Error

RichAuto Alarm Codes — What They Mean & How to Fix Them

RichAuto DSP controllers display alarm codes when something goes wrong. This guide explains every common alarm code, what causes it, and the exact steps to clear it and get your CNC machine running again. If the controller itself has failed, replacement units are in stock in UAE.

Most Common RichAuto Alarm Codes

E-Stop Alarm

Emergency stop circuit is open. E-stop button pressed, wiring fault, or E-stop switch failed. Machine locks out until circuit is restored.

Overtravel Alarm

Axis has moved beyond its software or hardware limit. Machine hit a limit switch or exceeded configured travel boundaries.

Drive Alarm

Stepper or servo driver has tripped. Overcurrent, overtemperature, or motor wiring fault on one or more axes.

Communication Error

Controller lost connection with the motion board. DB9 cable fault, connector loose, or board failure.

File Error

G-code file on USB is corrupted, wrong format, or incompatible. Controller cannot read or execute the program.

Controller Board Fault

Internal hardware failure on the RichAuto board. Requires controller replacement. Blank screen or random errors.

How to Clear RichAuto Alarms — Step by Step

1

Identify the alarm code

Note the exact alarm message on the RichAuto screen. Write it down. Some alarms show a number code, others show text. This tells you exactly which system has faulted.

2

Clear E-Stop alarm

Check all E-stop buttons are released (twist to reset). Check the E-stop wiring at the terminal block on the motion board. A continuity test should show closed circuit. If switch has failed, replace it.

3

Clear Overtravel alarm

Press and hold the axis release button on the RichAuto handset, then jog the axis back away from the limit switch. Once away from limits, the alarm will clear. Check your machine parameters — travel limits may need adjustment.

4

Clear Drive Alarm

Power off the machine. Check motor wiring on the alarmed axis — look for loose terminals, pinched cables, or burn marks. Reconnect securely, power on. If alarm persists, the driver itself may have failed.

5

Clear Communication Error

Check the DB9 cable connection between the RichAuto handset and the motion board. Reseat both connectors firmly. Test with a known-good cable. If error persists with new cable, the motion board has failed.

6

Replace controller if fault persists

If alarms cannot be cleared or the screen is blank/corrupted, the RichAuto controller board has failed and requires replacement. AACNC stocks genuine RichAuto A11 units in UAE with same-day dispatch.

RichAuto Alarm Codes — FAQ

Common questions about RichAuto DSP controller alarms

Why does my RichAuto controller keep showing E-Stop alarm?

The most common cause is a wiring fault in the E-stop circuit rather than the button itself. Check the E-stop terminal on the motion board for loose wires. Also check if any external E-stop devices (limit switches, safety relays) in the circuit have failed.

My RichAuto screen is blank — is it the controller or the power supply?

First check the 24V power supply output with a multimeter. If voltage is correct (23.5-24.5V) and the screen is still blank, the RichAuto controller board has failed and needs replacement. If voltage is low or zero, replace the power supply first.

Can I update or reflash the RichAuto firmware?

Yes — RichAuto firmware updates are available from the manufacturer. Download the correct firmware version for your model (A11, A11E, A18) from RichAuto official site and install via USB. Incorrect firmware version can cause additional faults.

What is the difference between RichAuto A11 and A18?

The A11 is a 4-axis DSP controller suitable for standard CNC routers. The A18 supports more advanced motion features. Most CNC router replacements in UAE use the A11. Contact us if you need help identifying your correct model.

How long does RichAuto controller delivery take in UAE?
